3 Months!!!

We made it -- lil' man is 3 months (a few days ago) and is mostly colic free!  :)  In fact first thing in the morning and evenings are his happiest times now.   He is growing and growing!  I love watching him look around and explore his surroundings.  If I hold him at the store...er..I mean WHEN I hold him at the store/park/backyard he just looks, looks, and looks all around.  He is very much a people person and would rather look at people moving then toys or the ceiling fan.

I melt!

Stats:  11.8 pounds

sometimes Mommy lets me play naked!
        Development:
I can hold up my head so good!

  • holding up head so well.  I pull him up to a sitting position by his arms and he can hold his head up his shoulders 4/5 times.  We try the Bumbo every other day or so for reading time and he can handle it for about 10 minutes before slumping.
  • lift up head and chest when on tummy
  • giggles at his own private jokes and when playing peek-a-boo
  • coo's a good part of his awake time -- including loudly to voice a complaint!  ha!
  • still holding strong on sleeping 6 hours every night -- although we have had a very surprise nights where he slept up to 9 hours.
  • rolls to from side to side -- but not all the way over yet.
  • reaching for toys he can see
  • tracks objects well and follows mommy all around the room with his eyes
  • sits very patiently and listens to 2 full (although short) books at a time
  • sucks on his fingers quite a bit -- he isn't picky about which finger and sometimes he tries to put most of his hand in there.
  • found out Mr. is latose intolerant -- I cut out milk and he stopped being so gassy!
"What a cute baby in front of me," thinks Kyler

     Kylerisms:
  • his new love this month is his feet.  Since getting in the new car seat, he watches them kick around and is fasniated!  And several times a week he spends a good 5 or 10 minutes trying to catch them -- but they (the feet) have managed to elude him thus far!
  • right before he goes to sleep, he buries his face in my arm -- PRECIOUS!
  • Kyler has this incredible radar that lets him know when I fall asleep.  He hasn't shown me the radar, but I know he must have one cause he always seems to wake up as soon as I go down in the day.  :)
  • he LOVES to kick his legs.  Sometimes when there is music playing, he marches his legs in tune with the music.  VERY FUNNY to watch!
  • WIGGLES!  He is a mover and that is without rolling.  In the mornings he is usually off his positioner and sideways.  One day he moved so much he knocked the protective pillow off the bed  (see  http://www.khalidnstacia.blogspot.com/2012/05/my-lil-wiggle-worm.html)
My Mother's Day shirt for my Nana
        Firsts:

  • going to the park
  • zoo here in KC  (see  http://www.khalidnstacia.blogspot.com/2012/05/1st-zoo-fun.html)
  • sleeping on mommy's bed -- in his own area cause I'm paranoid
  • (and hopefully last) trip to Urgent Care cause he wasn't eating well thanks to thrush
  • purple mouth thanks to the thrush medicine
  • trip in his carseat -- it was back ordered til this month, but its finally here and installed
  • garaging sale adventures....wasnt a fan!
  • March for Babies on Team Nicoda

sometimes SO serious!

I'm cute...and I know it!

I have this place ALL figured out!  :)

1st Zoo Fun

All ready to go to the ZOO!

I love that all these things right now are a first for my little guy!  Yesterdays first was a zoo outing with our favorite best friend and mini-friends!   :)

I'll admit that he didn't really care that we were at the zoo -- he is pretty content being out of the house as long as he can be held.  He did spend some quality time admiring the trees I think.  And he took a nap in his stroller -- another first.  I am doubly glad for the nap because he got rest and I got to spend extra time with Jac, C, and K.  (might already be going through withdraws just thinking of next month...)

C has her wave down pat!

Group shot of kids -- yeah, right!

What Kyler really did at the zoo

What C and K really did at the zoo.... :)

Cheese!

Some sort of hogs with her babies

The gorilla was sleeping.
I think C was hoping to get inside the glass if she pressed her face hard enough

a giraffe for Mr. Nicoda

and an elephant for Mr. Kyler

Both girls were excited to ride the carosuel

Waking up after his nap

We also had a picnic, but no pictures of that.  :)
It was a great FIRST ZOO TRIP for the lil guy!

My Lil Wiggle Worm

Below are two pictures showing how much Kyler wiggles and moves. I was shocked to see how much he moved one morning when I went to the bathroom to get ready.  I left him for about 3 minutes....  I now know he is too mobile to be left on the bed unattended.  Ha!  :)

First 'Happy' Mother's Day! :)

I had a great Mother's Day... definitely better this year than years past.  But so thankful for BOTH of my boys...Mr. Nicoda and Mr. Kyler.  :)  It is such a joy to be a mommy -- even the diaper changes and middle of the night wake ups are worth for his smiles and little coos each day.  My dad took me and Kyler out for Mexican food and ice cream -- yummy!  And Khalid even sent me a photo book of Vienna as a gift.

4th Anniversary

It's my anniversary...is it a happy one?  Not really.   If someone had told me last year that I would be spending my next anniversary in America..ALONE...I would have laughed cause this time last year we were loving life on our Croatia vacation.  It has been a packed year -- lots of emotions, lots of tears, lots of JOY thanks to Kyler getting here safely, but we are still apart and that is not what I want.  I miss my husband!  I love my husband!  And I pray for him everyday!!!  I am thankful that I get to talk to him each day and for how much he loves both of our boys.   I LOVE YOU KHALID!  Wish things were different, but haven't lost hope in you or us!

Mother Dear --  Thank you for all the support you have given me in my choices; in answering the calls for all my drama; in loving me through everything!, and for loving my sons like you do!  I LOVE YOU!!!  -- Daughter

Little Charmer

Just wanted to share a tidbit about my lil man.

He is a total people person.  When we go to the store - after he cries to be free from his car seat and is safely being held -- he just gazes around at the food (we normally just go to the grocery store) and smiles at the people.  And then yesterday we went to our first infant massage class and he talked (cooing and laughing) the WHOLE hour.  The other moms kept looking over at him and told what a HAPPY baby I have.  I was laughing inside knowing that he was just loving being the only man in a room of 10 people.  :)  Charmer....and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!  Can't wait to keep watching him grow into his personality!

and a picture of that cute smile...

Elephant Hat

I wanted to take lots of pictures with this adorable hat, but you forget and then it gets to be too small.  :)  Such is the way with a healthy, growing baby -- and I wouldn't have it any other way!

March for Babies Walk

Kansas City had its annual March for Babies Walk today in which Kyler and I signed up to walk.  Well we did show up with t-shirts on for Mr. Nicoda and we walked -- and by walk I mean we walked to the registration table and then took cover!  IT POURED!  (sigh)  There were hundreds of people there all huddled under overhangs and tents...and then those brave people how decided to walk soaked.  :)  We met my friend, Susan, there as well.  I met her through a grief support group and she was walking for her little girl, Gracie Kendall Buckler (a beautiful full-term baby born still).  I am glad that we went because every dollar that is given helps one more mother not have to leave the hospital without her baby (whether from death or NICU)!
 We miss our Mr. Nicoda!!!

In our hearts, we still know
The beauty of its blossom.
So it is with this tiny someone..
