Nana Comes to Town

So I'm a little late posting.

My mom flew into town for Zack's 9th birthday on Kyler's 5 month birthday -- my big little boy!!! -- and got to stay for a week.  It never feels like a week though after she has made all the rounds and done a few things.  But we take what we can get it!  I know I got two mornings to sleep in -- hadn't happened in well 5 months -- and it was a HUGE BLESSING FOR ME!  We fit in lots of fun -- City Market, thrift store shopping (where I got my couches!!!), lots of meals, a Royals game, and more. Thanks to my mom visiting, Kyler and I got lots of family time with my siblings as well.

Kyler's Favorite Person

Every kid has favorites -- book, shoes, game, person.  

Well my kid has is blessed to have his favorite person also be his cousin!  

Kyler can't get enough of my nephew, Zack.  

And by can't get enough, I mean, loads and loads of giggles and smiles and watching his every move!  Zack loves to do a stare down with Kyler -- he won't smile, he'll just stare and Kyler stares back.  And then there is the "Peek a Boo Exterme" game where essentially Kyler is startled everytime Zack jumps out and for whatever reason Kyler loves it and he laughs.  Zack is a hoot all by himself, so it makes for double fun to watch the two together.  :)   

                             (I have two videos of Zack making Kyler laugh, but blogger is my enemy, so can't post them.)

This little guy is a blessing!

Blessed: enjoying the bliss of heaven;

I'd say that 5 months ago the definition of blessed came true to my life.

Do I sleep a little less (or a lot less)? Yes.

Do I find time to get all my chores done in the day? No.

Does a trip to the store take me 3x as long? Yes.

Does any of that seem important at all when I see Kyler's sweet smile every morning and snuggle him close at night? NOT A BIT!!!!

STANDING! MOVING! KICKING! This kid won't be still! :)
Rolls over both ways (at night he goes from one side of the crib to the other)
can hold up arms and head (from belly) for unlimited amts of time
loves to make noises/sing
knows his name and will turn when he hears it
turns towards 'interesting' sounds (this isn't always my voice - sad day)
smiles all the time and smiles back
wiggle and squirm to reach a toy
reach for, grasp, and put toys into mouth (well not just toys -- anything he can reach!)

Mommy's Favorites:

Kyler still buries his face in my neck or arm when falling asleep! PRECIOUS!

Listening to his sweet face sing along with our praise CD.

Watching his face light up when he sees people -- makes me so glad that he is able to bless others with something so simple, yet meaningful to them.

Seeing him giggle and laugh at random things each day.

my all time favorite -- his sweet smile every morning when I go to get him!!!

Watching him talk with/try to grab/stare at Khalid when we talk to him each day. I know that it makes Khalid's day everytime he gets a smile or coo! :)

4th of July Week

Our 4th of July was extra special cause Aunt Stef flew up from Abilene to meet and love on Kyler -- okay, okay, so she wanted to see the whole family, but who's counting.  :)  Kyler did WONDERFUL that night with the fireworks.  Random ones leading up the 4th would wake him up, but I guess since there were so many going off that night he didn't care.  Unfortuntely his aching gums did wake him up.  Oh, well.  We had a lot of fun with Stef -- from eating out, fireworks, swimming at the pool, and just hanging out!  WE ARE SO GLAD YOU GOT TO VISIT STEPHANIE!!!
